Blood worms can get quite expensive at a dozen. If you don't know what you are doing or know exactly what fish you are going for, it would probably be best to use a lure for a while before wasting money on something such as live food. Only once you know the fish you are after and what it likes should you buy live blood worms.

There are legitimately dozens of dissimilar types of baits you can use for hundreds of types of fish, but the blood worms are a good starting point for any angler. The fish just can't seem to get enough of them and the price isn't too ridiculous. If you are an avid bait hunter you can look for them before you even start fishing and that will add a limited bit of extra sport to it.
