The ultimate Fly For Large Trout, Bass And Saltwater Species

Weather I am going fly fishing to the mountains trout fishing or the coast for some saltwater fishing or just a few hours on a farm pond or local lake, there is one fly that I am never without. Because all fish at some point in their lives feed on minnows than why wouldn't you carry the best minnow imitation fly with you where ever you are going fishing.
The Clouser's minnow is without a doubt the most efficient fly that has ever been tied. Because the Clouser's minnow is tied upside down, the weighted eyes cause this fly to work with the hook facing up, making it almost weed less. This fly can be striped fast making it look like a healthy minnow or it can be worked gently working straight through underwater rocks and trees and brush.

I have caught large freshwater trout with a Clouser's minnow from Maine to the southern Appalachians, as well as northern Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Washington state, and Alaska. Large trout at some point in their development must adapt to catching and involving food larger that small fly. They begin feeding on crayfish, mice, and minnows. These larger food sources offer large trout a larger meal with a minimal expense of energy. The most efficient colors for catching large trout are whether the silver or the chartreuse Clouser.

I have also caught largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and crappie bass with the Clouser's minnow. If you have ever watched Bass Master's on television, you have noticed that many of the lures they use imitate minnows. For largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing, the best colors are chartreuse, silver and black. For crappie bass the best colors are chartreuse or yellow in smaller sizes. You can even catch pan fish, brim, sunfish, and blue gill with even smaller sizes.

For saltwater fishing there is no great fly to have with you than a Clouser's minnow. I remember the first time I was making ready to go saltwater fly fishing for the first time I went to my local fly shop and asked what the best fly to buy. Both of the people there told me that if they were going to the coast, they would not go if they did not have an assortment of Clouser's with them. The Clouser's minnow When stripping the Clouser's fast I have caught more bluefish, false albacore, tarpon and snook, drum, sea trout, redfish, permit and ever bonefish than can remember. Stripping it slower I have even caught flounder with the Clouser's Minnow.

The Clouser's Minnow, in various colors is the only fly that I carry with me weather I am going fishing for freshwater trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie bass, pan fish, or saltwater fishing. If you use the right colors in the right sizes and learn how to present these flies properly you can catch fish wherever there are fish.

Tight lines and clear water,

Brian
